Recently I was featured on a Christian radio program in America. I asked several questions and shared some struggles and many people responded with wise advice including one Prophet. I was given a prophetic word by this prophet on the radio program. The prophet said many things but one of the things he said was “Rest”.
Since then God has been speaking to me to many things about rest and refreshing. After doing an in depth study of what the bible has to say about rest, many revelations came. I will be sharing some of these in depth tomorrow but consider the following
One of the ten commandments is to take a day of rest:
Exodus 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
In the old testament, taking a day to rest was so important that if someone worked on the Sabbath day he would be put to death.
Exodus 31:15 Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day is a sabbath of solemn rest, holy to Jehovah: whosoever doeth any work on the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.
When unusually busy – Jesus took time to rest…
Luke 5:15,16 But so much the more went there a fame abroad of him: and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities. And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed.
Possibly the greatest mistake made in the Lakeland revival was the failure to take time to rest, as a result there came burnout.
